What to Know
The test is suitable from 6 weeks gestation with a scan. Performing the test earlier than this risks an inaccurate result, as not enough male chromosomes may be detectable. Maternal weight can sometimes affect the accuracy of the test too, so we recommend waiting till confirmed 8 weeks if your weight is over 85kg. Please note that in early pregnancy, it can be very difficult to see your baby on a scan. This could be because it's just a little too early, or it could be a sign that your baby has not continued to grow as we would expect. It could also be an indication of an ectopic pregnancy. In these cases we'll offer a complimentary rescan.
