Upper Abdominal Ultrasound
Non-invasive imaging scan used to assess the organs in the upper part of the abdomen, including the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen and kidneys.

Your Ultrasound Appointment
Your ultrasound appointment will last approximately 30 minutes, allowing time for the scan itself and for your clinician to explain the findings and answer any questions. During the scan you will lie comfortably on the examination couch, a small amount of ultrasound gel is applied to the skin, and a handheld probe is gently moved across the area being examined while images are captured in real time. Ultrasound is painless and does not involve radiation, making it a safe and widely used diagnostic imaging technique.

What Happens During Your Scan
Arrive & Prepare
Your appointment lasts approximately 30 minutes. Some scans require fasting or a full bladder — we'll send preparation instructions when you book.
The Scan
You lie comfortably while your sonographer applies ultrasound gel and gently moves a handheld probe. The procedure is painless and radiation-free.
Results & Report
Ultrasound images and a full written clinical report are typically provided on the same day as your appointment.
Next Steps
Your clinician explains findings clearly and, where appropriate, guides you on further investigation or follow-up care.
